"Haberdashers' was a lovely school, liberal yet disciplined; free-thinking - but they inspired you." |
Doug Watkinson, Script writer for TV detective series including Poirot and Midsomer Murders. |
On Monday 29th June, the Under 16 team won the Hertfordshire County Athletics League Cup Final at Jarman Park track in Hemel Hempstead. Competing amongst the top 8 Athletics schools in the county - Habs won a by a convincing margin.
There were some fantastic performances throughout the team. But the pick of the bunch were..... Ellis Hughes' victory in the 80M Hurdles, David Fernie's 2nd place in the 1500M and Kishen Ragunathan's 2nd in the 100m sprint. In the field, Efe Uwaifo won the Triple Jump with 12.53 which ranks him as the top U15 Triple Jumper in the country this year! Marc Rister (still only Year 9) won the Pole vault with a Personal best of 2.80m.
Mr Steve Lowe, Habs Head of Athletics, said "This is a marvellous team achievement - this year group failed to qualify for the final when they were in Year 8 - to go on and win it two years later really does take some doing! They have trained extremely hard all season and have a great team spirit, I look forward to seeing them in action in the ESAA Cup final on Saturday".
